Anyone that knows Dax in person knows he is pure boy. Seriously the kid is Manly his favorite things...Sharks, Dinosaurs, Trains, climbing and jumping off of anything that is a challenge to land. The kid even has a little skateboard trick.
So for me it was no surprise I was rushing him to the ER, I always thought it would be for a broken arm... not a quarter of his finger falling off and spurting blood everywhere. Yes...spurting...sounds worse than it is...
Dax's finger got shut in the back hinge side of the door that was metal, it was one of those doors that were soo heavy just so they would shut by themselves no matter what. It shut so hard...The scream was so loud...It pulled his fingernail out from the cuticle & cut straight down & broke the bone.
Worst Part was we were driving to Denver from Utah, this was just a few hours after the dinosaur museum, Dax was hungry and we were stopping to get him something...1 hour from Denver. I had no idea where I was. It was the worst...
Jake drove to where we were thank goodness I know I couldn't of handled the procedure they had to do trying to put his fingernail back in & stitches through his nail. Jake has had a near death experience and said this by far was the worst, holding Dax down screaming and crying "Daddy help Daddy" over and over while they did it. I think just seeing your child in pain...I cried the whole time probably as much as Dax.
*We are currently potty training right now and it's going great! He survived an 8 hour shopping trip & 2 hour car drive in just his chonies (spanish slang for undies hah) no accidents so excited to post about that*

:( Poor Dax. That must have been horrible for you guys! Especially not being near home. Hope everything heals up correctly! And by the way...love the "steps" in his hair! We gave Colin's nephew the same thing...hilarious! Congrats on potty training! Normally boys take SO long!
Poor kid! And tough mommy and daddy for having to go through with that! I'm glad it was nothing worse. However, I wouldn't be surprise if Dax through something else at you through the rest of his childhood : ) I've had to deal with stitches with Aubrey at age 2 and that's enough for me... could I handle a boy???
I had to click on the last picture to see if those were steps I saw. Ha, ha! Too cute!
How sad! I would have been freaking out, dry heaving, and freaking out. His little hand split is cute though. {bright side to everything, right?}
Besides, now he's got street cred with the ladies. Chicks dig scars.
Oh poor Dax! Luckly it didn't like take his finger off that would have been bad! Hope you get better soon Dax!:] And good job on the potty training!:]
Oh no!! Poor Dax....and mommy and daddy!! We have had a broken arm here. And you would think it was my son--but NOOOOOO it was my oldest daughter. She is a clutz!!
I can't believe that had to happen to him! What a sweety! I would have bawled my eyes out! Just reading it and trying to imagine I was starting to get teary eyed!!! I'm so glad its all better now. And I am so happy that he's doing so good with the potty training! That is amazing!!! What a good little boy:) Aiya sure does miss him! She seriously loves Dax!!
Oh my goodness! I went to Instacare today, to finallly see what is going on with this stomach bug, and there was a little boy in there who broke his leg.
I'm glad he's OK!
That is so sad! I hate hearing little kids scream and cry like that and there is nothing you can do, it is the WORST! Hope you get well soon!
Keep up the awesome job on potty training!!!!

Ya steps on your 2 year old...
Oh, poor Dax. I am so sorry that you had to go through that. It truly is the hardest thing ever to see your child in pain and not be able to stop it. My heart goes out to you.

I hope this isn't a glimpse into his future - didn't his daddy break all sorts of bones?
